Modern Mill-Restoration

The interior design of this 9,500 sq.ft mill is a beautiful amalgamation of the old and the new, creating a seamless mix of past and present that is evident in every detail. As we embarked on the design process, we were captivated by the stunning column details, wooden trusses, and glorious arches that were hidden beneath layers of neglect and usage over the years. Our immediate approach was to showcase and revive these elements, restoring them to their former glory. By preserving the authenticity of the space and adding a fresh perspective, we were able to infuse a modern touch into the vintage mill. The result is a pleasant atmosphere that pays homage to the rich history of the space while embracing the contemporary era.

Beneath Layers of Time: Years of accumulated paint cloaked the rafters, hiding their inherent beauty. With meticulous care, each layer was peeled back, revealing the aged wood beneath like a sculptor uncovering a masterpiece.

TESTIMONIAL

The end result is a beautiful, functional office!

“I hired LMC Architects to help with the interior design of our apartment(Double Urban residence), and we hired them again years later for our office interior design. I am extremely happy with their design, and with the way our office turned out. LMC architects considered not only what the space was going to look like, but also how it was going to be used. The end result is a beautiful, functional office that we receive compliments on almost daily basis. I highly recommend LMC architects to anyone who is looking to renovate a residential or a commercial space.”

The exposed wood brought a transformation to the space. The raw authenticity, imbued with history, replaced the sterile veil of paint. A sense of warmth, like a welcoming embrace, filled the interior, echoing the character of the mill’s bygone era.

When we started our design process, we discovered the structure was a minefield of beautiful column details, wooden trusses and glorious arches. Our immediate thought was to showcase and revive these elements which were hidden over years of usage. This approach preserves the authenticity of the space while adding a fresh perspective, it gives a modern touch to a vintage mill.

The exposed rafters transcended mere functionality. Their newfound presence wasn’t just structural; it became an aesthetic focal point. The raw beauty of the wood added a touch of timeless elegance, a testament to design that endures.
